Qigong
Qigong (pron; chee gong) can be translated as 'breath energy practice'. This class is devoted entirely to opening the body and fully utilising the breath. All movements are simple and fully guided by the teacher. The practice aims to gently stretch and mobilise the body, releasing areas of tension and stress.
The class starts with soft movements to gently loosen the head, neck and back followed by the ribs and arms. A specialist method called Dao Yin follows. This is a short sequence of 8 postures to invigorate the internal organs. A simple cool down with the Wudang 5-animals form brings the class to a close.
Although there are no extreme postures, the body is fully stretched and stimulated both inside and out. The class is suitable for those with limited mobility or health issues, as well as those who just want to maintain optimum health.
