Rob Jones
3rd degree black sash in traditional Kungfu, 1st degree black sash in Chinese Kickboxing.I have been a student of Master Omar and Master Andrew since 1993
I started learning karate and judo when i was very young and tried a few different classes in my local area.
I didn't keep it up, however, and didn't practice any martial arts until I was 12.
I joined an after school class of Bojutsu, a family style made of the 5 main japanese martial arts styles (karate, judo, jujitsu, kendo, aikido) which was run by master John Buzza.
I trained with him until I left school at 16.
I also trained for 2 years in fencing while I was at school.
I didn't get back into martial arts until I went to university at Portsmouth when i was 22.
I joined the uni kungfu class which was run by Chris Moase.
i loved it so much that i joined the portsmouth class as well which was run by Joel.
My early training had given me a good starting point and I quickly went from 1 lesson a week to training 5 or 6 times a week, as well as training by myself during the day.
after 2 years, Chris completed his university course, and I took over the class in 1995 and got my first experience of teaching.
I continued running the class until I completed my course in 1997.
I achieved my Blue sash before taking a break from training for 6 months.
I then rejoined Zheng Dao Lo learning from Jon Corbishley who had started a class in Portsmouth.
I quickly went back to training constantly and achieved my brown 4 sash within 18 months.
I was constantly helping Jon teach the lesson and when Jon left Portsmouth for Newcastle in 2000, I took over the lessons.
Omar awarded me an instructors black sash in order to teach the Portsmouth lessons.
I achieved my proper black sash in kungfu in 2001 and I also started grading in Kickboxing the same year.
I achieved my first black sash in kickboxing in 2003, and started teaching kickboxing the same year.
I recently double graded and achieved my 3rd black sash in kungfu in 2010.
