Training Martial Arts 1984 starting with Tae Kwon Do then onto Wing Tsun.
In 1999 watched the first UFC event and immediately started training MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) at London Shoot Fighters.
Became fascinated by the grappling side of MMA, as I had only learned stand up striking before this.
MMA became my main focus of training, incorporating BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu), Muay Thai and mixed sparring classes.
For the first few years, I trained 'in the deep end' with a number of pro fighters, some whom went on to fight in the UFC, PRIDE FC and other major MMA events.
At the time I was producing video for a living and began combining this with my Martial Arts as a focus.
I produced a film following 3 fighters from London Shoot Fighters who were all competing on an upcoming 'CageRage' event - Alex Reid, Jean Silva, and James Zikic. James opponent was Vitro Belfort (former UFC champion).
Following this film, I produced a mini series with Alex Reid and Gaz Rorriston (EU MMA champion also at London Shoot Fighters) where we travelled to a number of top gyms in the USA to train.
These included working with Frank Shamrock, Kron Gracie, Randy Couture, Dan Henderson, Marc Laimon, Forrest Griffin and others.
I then turned to full time Martial Arts instruction videos as a living and have worked with Michael Bisping, Braulio Estima (world BJJ champion), Neil Adams (former World Judo Champion), and many others.
Working with the top instructors has its perks - mainly being able to train with them ongoing!
I regularly travel to Birmingham to work with Braulio Estima, and Brussels to work with Neil Adams.
I have trained specialist classes with many top instructors around the world covering many different styles of grappling.
I try to bring all the styles together in my own teaching.
These include BJJ, Luta Livre, Wrestling, Greco Roman, Sombo, Catch Wrestling, Judo and other grappling styles as well as the striking incorporation from MMA.
I have been teaching no-gi Submission Grappling classes and MMA classes for a number of years, and was invited to work with the ZDL Academy early 2010.
I am now fully committed to representing ZDL as my 'home', and am focused on teaching the highest quality of technical Submission Grappling within the Academy.
